Woodland Ave. Structure Fire 7/31/25

On the morning of Wednesday, August 20th around 4am, the Fire Department was dispatched on a Battalion 7 Box Alarm reporting a possible fire on Woodland Avenue. This Box Alarm not only notified our department right away but also the River Vale Fire Department for an additional engine and the Hillsdale Fire Department for a FAST Team. Upon the arrival of Deputy Chief Wiecenski, it was found that a heavy smoke condition was present within a 1 story auto-body shop. Engine 1-2 arrived and immediately stretched a 2&1/2 inch hose line to the rear of the structure were they, along with Truck 1’s company, forced entry into the main garage area and began to search for the seat of the fire. Within minutes of arriving on scene, members had found a small closed off work bench area that had caught fire but had mostly smothered itself out. As Engine 1-2 knocked down the remaining area of fire, Truck 1 and River Vale’s engine company began to open up the surrounding area to check for any fire extension. Once it was determined that the fire was knocked and that there was no further extension, the fire was deemed under control. Crews were only scene for just under 2 hours, no members or civilians were hurt. Great job by all!
